The Goodson Oncology Wellness Program

The Goodson Oncology Wellness Program is a collaboration between the EAMC Cancer Center, HealthPlus Fitness Center, and RehabWorks outpatient rehabilitation. The Goodson Oncology Wellness Program

This program is open to current patients of the Cancer Center before, during and after treatment. The program services include exercise, massage therapy, nutritional counseling, and stress management. Referral to the program must be given by the patient's oncologist. OWP patients will also have the option of working in a group setting with other members for support, motivation, and encouragement.

The program provides a complimentary 12-week membership to HealthPlus where the patient receives an orientation by a Certified Cancer Exercise Specialist, an individual exercise plan based on their individual needs and goals and orientation to the facility. They will have access to group fitness classes (as appropriate) as well as individual plans. One-on-one, personalized training is provided until the patient is comfortable and confident that they can safely do the exercise on their own. Follow up is provided with the patient's physician as they progress through the program, updating the oncologist on the frequency of exercise as well as any changes in blood pressure, heart rate and weight/body fat. Exercise benefits patients during and after cancer treatments, and when to start the program is different for every patient. Our top goal is to better overall wellness and improve quality of life.

This 12 week program is FREE! Upon completion of the program, the patient may join HealthPlus for $42/month if they choose to continue.
